General Manager - The Stirling Arms

Join our team at The Stirling Arms, a vibrant community pub located in the heart of Hove known for its warm atmosphere, extensive range of cask ales, draught beers, and exceptional food offer. We also have 4 guest rooms above the pub that are always busy with check ins / outs.

Key Responsibilities

• Takes ownership of the venue with an entrepreneurial mindset, creating a fun yet professional environment for staff and customers.


• Lead and inspire our front and back\-of\-house team, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.


• Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.


• Set clear roles and responsibilities for the management team, and supervisors ensure the team are constantly being developed and that they feel well\-supported and motivated.


• Motivate the team to provide exceptional customer service, building relationships with our guests.


• Manage cashing up and locking up procedures with confidence and accuracy.


• Handle cellar management, including the care and handling of real ales.


• Maintain a high standard of stock control, performing regular line checks.


• Uphold our tradition of excellence in hospitality, contributing to menu planning and special events.


• This is a freehouse so lots of opportunity to get involved in product choice and planning.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a General Manager, preferably in a pub/bar setting.


• Strong leadership and communication skills.


• Excellent organisational and time management abilities.


• A people person with a genuine love for hospitality.


• Positive thinker with the initiative to solve problems and improve processes.


• Great attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.


• Confident in all aspects of food service.


• Comfortable with cashing up and locking up responsibilities.


• Experienced in cellar management, particularly with real ales.


• Strong understanding of stock control and line checks.


• Must hold a personal licence.


• Right to work in the UK.
