Novaminds is a UK\-based cloud solutions company specialising in AWS cloud services, FinOps and DevOps. We help organisations improve cloud performance, cost visibility and operational efficiency.
Novaminds is looking for a detail\-oriented FinOps Analyst / Cloud Cost Analyst with experience in AWS billing, cloud cost management and financial analysis.
In this role, you will analyse AWS usage and cost data, identify trends, anomalies and optimisation opportunities, and turn your findings into clear reports and practical recommendations. You will work closely with Engineering, DevOps, Finance and other stakeholders to improve cloud cost visibility, forecasting, allocation and accountability.
This is a client\-facing role, so you should be confident communicating cost insights and recommendations clearly to both technical and non\-technical audiences.
Please note that this is a fully on\-site position based in Canary Wharf, London. Remote or hybrid working is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse AWS usage and cloud spending using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets and AWS Trusted Advisor.
- Identify cost trends, anomalies, unused resources and optimisation opportunities.
- Recommend practical cost\-saving measures, including rightsizing, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans and Spot Instances.
- Develop and maintain cloud budgets, cost forecasts, dashboards and stakeholder reports.
- Support accurate cost allocation and chargebacks through effective resource tagging strategies.
- Work with Engineering, DevOps and Finance teams to improve cloud cost visibility, governance and accountability.
- Present cost insights and recommendations clearly to technical and non\-technical stakeholders.
- Develop and document processes for cloud cost monitoring, governance and optimisation.
- Support the evaluation of AWS pricing models, commercial options and cloud cost\-management platforms.
- Stay up to date with AWS pricing changes, new services and FinOps best practices.
- At least two years of relevant experience in cloud cost management, FinOps, financial analysis or a related role.
- Practical experience with AWS billing and cost\-management tools.
- A good understanding of AWS services and pricing models, including EC2, S3, RDS and Lambda.
- Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex cost data and identify actionable insights.
- Experience creating cloud cost reports, dashboards and forecasts.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain cost insights clearly to both technical and non\-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and forecasting.
- The ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, DevOps, Finance and leadership teams.
- Experience with FinOps practices or the FinOps Framework.
- Experience using Amazon QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, CloudHealth, Cloudability or Apptio.
- Familiarity with Python or Bash for automating cost analysis or querying AWS APIs.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- AWS or FinOps certifications.
- Experience with multi\-cloud cost management across AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with UK public\-sector procurement frameworks or eligibility for security clearance.
