Finance Manager (Part-time)
Location: Telford, Shropshire
Working pattern: Three days per week — two days in our Telford office and one day working from home
Reporting to: Managing Director
Bryght is looking for an experienced, hands\-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function across Bryght, Drayton Print and China Print Supplies UK (CPS).
Our businesses operate across event hire and production, printing, and print equipment supply. This is a varied role offering responsibility across the full finance function, from everyday bookkeeping through to financial reporting, cash\-flow forecasting and supporting business decisions.
You will be the sole internal finance person, working directly with the Managing Director and liaising with our external accountants. You should be comfortable processing invoices, chasing missing receipts and collecting overdue payments, alongside reviewing profitability and helping us plan ahead.
You will take responsibility for:
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping across the businesses, including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, expenses and credit card transactions.
- Requesting and following up on missing invoices, receipts, statements and supporting documents.
- Preparing, checking and submitting VAT returns.
- Processing payroll, including starters, leavers, overtime, pension contributions and relevant HMRC submissions.
- Managing credit control: chasing overdue invoices, resolving payment queries and monitoring customer deposits and payment terms.
- Preparing supplier payment runs for approval and keeping supplier accounts reconciled.
- Maintaining a rolling 13\-week cash\-flow forecast, identifying potential shortfalls and recommending practical actions.
- Producing accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet reconciliations and clear commentary on business performance.
- Supporting budgets, reviewing costs and margins, and helping the Managing Director assess spending and business decisions.
- Keeping financial records correctly separated by legal entity and reconciling intercompany transactions where applicable.
- Maintaining a clear calendar of VAT, payroll, pension and other financial deadlines.
- Preparing year\-end information and working with external accountants on accounts, tax matters and queries.
- Improving financial processes so information is accurate, documents are collected promptly and reporting is dependable.
- Proven experience independently managing the finances of a small or medium\-sized business.
- Strong practical knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and credit control.
- Confidence producing management accounts and cash\-flow forecasts, with the ability to explain what the numbers mean.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero and Excel.
- A proactive, organised approach and the confidence to follow things through without repeated prompting.
- Commercial judgement and the confidence to question costs, flag concerns and suggest improvements.
- A willingness to personally handle routine finance administration as an essential part of the role.
- Clear communication skills and a professional, persistent approach to chasing payments and information.
Experience supporting multiple businesses, stock accounting or import transactions would be useful.
The role offers direct involvement in how the businesses operate, the opportunity to improve the finance function, and a regular three\-day working week. Two days each week will be based in our Telford office, with one day working from home. Working days will be agreed with the successful candidate.
