As our services continue to grow and develop, we are looking for a Finance Manager who wants genuine ownership of the finance function, direct access to decision\-makers, and the opportunity to improve how financial information supports the business.
The Role
This is a varied and hands\-on position where you will take ownership of the day\-to\-day finance function, ensuring customer billing, cash collection, supplier payments, and reconciliations are completed accurately and efficiently.
In addition, you will be responsible for closing the accounts each month and producing accurate Profit \& Loss reports and management information for Director review, helping to support informed commercial decision\-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own customer billing, ensuring invoices are raised accurately and on time.
- Maintain the sales ledger, allocate receipts, monitor aged debt, and proactively chase overdue accounts.
- Process supplier invoices, reconcile statements, allocate expenditure correctly, and prepare payment runs for approval.
- Complete regular bank reconciliations and promptly resolve unreconciled items.
- Manage month\-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and key balance sheet reconciliations, bringing accounts through to trial balance.
- Produce accurate monthly Profit \& Loss reports, including actual versus budget and prior\-period comparisons, with concise commentary on significant variances.
- Monitor cash flow and provide forecasts where required.
- Reconcile payroll\-related costs and support year\-end audit and accounting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, and reporting.
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous hands\-on finance or management accounting experience.
- Confidence in producing monthly management accounts and Profit \& Loss reports independently.
- Strong bookkeeping, credit control, and bank reconciliation skills.
- Good knowledge of accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills and practical experience using accounting software.
- Practical experience using Xero and Sage accounting software.
- A commercial and organised approach with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non\-finance managers.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a busy operational environment.
- Experience working within care, healthcare, or another service\-based organisation.
- AAT qualified, ACCA/CIMA part\-qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Experience supporting a growing SME business.
- Option to work part time hours with salary adjusted on a pro\-rata basis.
