BSR (Building Safety Regulations) Document Controller
BSR Document Controller
Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Hours: Full\-time, office based
Start Date: Mid\-October 2026
About the Role
We are looking for a BSR Document Controller to join our team and take ownership of the document control processes supporting our Building Safety Regulator (BSR) Gateway Three projects.
The role will be responsible for managing project information and maintaining the “golden thread” of safety\-critical information throughout construction, ensuring documents are accurate, controlled, up to date and readily available for BSR approval and final project handover.
This is an office\-based role working closely with our Design, Fire Engineering, Contracts, Site, Technical and Quality teams.
You don't need to be an expert in BSR or Gateway processes from day one. Full training and development will be provided, but we're looking for someone who is organised, proactive, confident working independently and has a strong eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain project documentation within our Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Support the BSR Gateway Three process and ensure required documentation is prepared and maintained in line with Gateway requirements.
- Maintain an accurate and complete golden thread of information, including fire strategies, design information, as\-built drawings and other safety\-critical documentation.
- Manage document revisions, version control and formal change\-control records.
- Ensure documents are correctly referenced, named, stored and easily traceable.
- Carry out quality checks to identify missing, incorrect or outdated information.
- Maintain clear audit trails and ensure project records are kept up to date and audit ready.
- Coordinate with internal teams to obtain, review and verify required documentation.
- Follow up with relevant stakeholders where information is missing, incomplete or does not meet the required standard.
- Support the organisation and collation of information required for BSR submissions, project completion and handover.
- Assist with the ongoing development and improvement of document control processes and systems.
We're looking for someone who is self\-directed, proactive and highly organised, with the ability to take ownership of their workload and keep things moving without needing constant direction.
You'll need:
- Previous experience working with an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), Common Data Environment (CDE) or similar document control systems.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to managing information.
- The confidence to communicate with different teams and follow up when information is required.
- The ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects or workflows at the same time.
- The ability to work independently and use your own initiative to identify and resolve issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain processes clearly to both technical and non\-technical colleagues.
Construction \& BSR Experience
- Previous experience as a Document Controller within construction, engineering or the built environment would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Knowledge or experience of the following would also be beneficial:
- Building Safety Act 2022
- Building Safety Regulator (BSR) Gateway processes
- Golden Thread requirements
- Change control processes
- Common Data Environments (CDE)
- ISO 19650
- Construction drawings and technical documentation
- Document naming, referencing and revision control
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are essential for this role. However, the following would be beneficial:
- Previous Document Control training or experience.
- ISO 19650 or Information Management training.
- Construction, engineering, IT or business\-related qualifications.
- Relevant Building Safety Act or BSR training/CPD.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and takes pride in getting things right.
You'll need to be comfortable taking ownership, asking questions when something doesn't look right and having the confidence to chase information when required. Accuracy is important in this role, so a strong eye for detail and a structured, methodical approach are essential.
This is a great opportunity for someone with document control experience who wants to develop their knowledge of BSR, Gateway Three and building safety compliance within a growing construction business.
