Service Engineer

Location: Derby / Field\-Based
Salary: Target earnings £50,000\+

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Engineer to join a growing engineering business supporting critical controls, automation and electrical systems across major infrastructure projects.

This is a hands\-on role involving maintenance, fault finding, breakdown support and system integration, with projects covering power systems, battery sites, substations and road tunnel infrastructure.

You will work as part of a service and maintenance team responsible for supporting systems across a large network of infrastructure sites, including 26 road tunnels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical, control and automation systems

  • Diagnose and resolve breakdowns and system faults

  • Provide technical support and attend emergency call\-outs

  • Work on power systems, battery sites and substation controls

  • Support control system and electrical system integration

  • Carry out fault finding, testing and commissioning

  • Complete preventative maintenance and system inspections

  • Work on road tunnel control and automation systems

  • Liaise with customers, subcontractors and internal engineering teams

  • Complete service reports and technical documentation

  • Participate in an on\-call rota

  • Travel to customer sites across the UK, including occasional work in London

  • Undertake night shifts when required
About You

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in electrical, controls, automation or maintenance engineering.

You will ideally have:

  • An engineering qualification or degree in Electrical, Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering or a Engineering related discipline

  • Experience with electrical/control systems and fault finding

  • Experience working with control panels and automation systems

  • Understanding of power systems, electrical equipment or industrial controls

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem\-solving skills

  • Experience working on customer or project sites

  • Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns and call\-outs

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Flexibility to work occasional night shifts and on\-call rotations
Experience within substations, power systems, tunnels, infrastructure, industrial automation or similar environments would be highly advantageous.
