Facilities Engineer

This is a mobile role, so extensive travel and time away from base is a core part of the job, including overnight stays where needed.

The Role

As a Facilities Engineer, you will be responsible for compliance management across your allocated homes, ensuring all regulatory testing, monitoring and remedial work is carried out on a planned basis so that our homes remain fully compliant. The role also covers general maintenance, particularly decorating, alongside identifying and reporting further works to the Estates Manager, including handyman tasks and specialist work such as electrical, plumbing and landscaping. You'll be based out of Hereford but travelling to homes across the wider Ashberry group as required, with overnight stays where a home is further afield.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out weekly and monthly compliance checks across allocated homes, reporting findings as required.


• Deliver planned maintenance work, including regular decoration of high\-traffic areas, low\-level gutter cleaning and grounds maintenance.


• Oversee redecoration of residents' rooms to Ashberry's specifications ahead of new admissions.


• Review and coordinate specialised maintenance and repair work, such as window repairs, render repairs, roofing and tree work, reporting progress to the Estates Manager.


• Identify and manage health \& safety risks, including slips, trips, obstructions and operational issues.


• Record and review all on\-site M\&E and maintenance equipment, tracking servicing requirements.


• Lead maintenance work and coordinate activities with Home Managers.


• Attend regular estates meetings to report on the status of each allocated home.


• Operate within agreed financial parameters and budgets, keeping the Estates Manager updated on progress and forward planning.

About You

Our ideal candidate must:

• Understand statutory compliance requirements, including fire safety, gas safety, electrical testing, water hygiene (including Legionella), asbestos, LOLER and building regulations.


• Have excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.


• Show initiative and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


• Have strong analytical thinking, decision\-making and problem\-solving skills.


• Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams).


• Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel across the region, with occasional overnight stays.


• Have the right to work in the UK.

Experience working within care homes, healthcare or other CQC\-regulated settings across multiple sites is desirable, along with an understanding of CQC requirements and experience reviewing Fire Risk Assessments, water hygiene audits and external compliance inspections.
