Estimator / Cost Engineer

*JOB PURPOSE:*

• To review technical engineering drawings and provide detailed estimates through collaboration with customers, suppliers and vendors for the supply and manufacture of high precision engineering components and assemblies.

• Experienced mechanical engineer with an indentured apprenticeship, or the equivalent skills and experience.


• Ability to read engineering drawings, with a good understanding of GD\&T.


• At least 5 years previous purchasing experience (within an engineering or manufacturing environment).


• Familiar with manufacturing processes, raw material specifications and costing methodologies.


• Solid negotiation skills.


• Exceptional commercial awareness.

• Prepare detailed project cost estimates including material, labour, equipment and sub\-contractor pricing.


• Manage the end\-to\-end bid process, including proposal writing and bid management


• Liaise effectively with departments included with the project on all relevant aspects of each project, manufacture and source components for builds.


• Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and timelines.


• Produce reports on spend and forecast production capacity.


• To identify opportunities for increased cost effectiveness.


• Plan, organise and accurately monitor workload to meet strict deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Planning and organising – ability to work to strict deadlines.


• Excellent team worker, with the ability and self\-discipline to work alone effectively.


• Retains Commercial awareness.

• 8:30am – 17:00pm, Monday \- Friday

• Dependent on skills and relevant experience.

Pay: £35,000\.00\-£45,000\.00 per year
