Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a detail\-focused Estimating Engineer to join an established manufacturing business, preparing accurate, competitive quotations to deliver reliable and sustainable solutions.
We are looking for an individual with an attention to detail, a natural ability to communicate with both clients and suppliers, ensuring proposals are accurately costed and ready for production.
You will work closely with Engineering, Production and Purchasing teams to produce accurate costings, negotiate the best value with suppliers and identify value engineering opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Managing and producing accurate, competitive technical and commercial quotations from initial enquiry to quotation
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and CAD models to accurately interpret client requirements
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders throughout the tender process
- Conducting site visits (where required) to assess specific project requirements
- Build and develop strong and long\-term relationships with clients and suppliers
- Support the operational team in delivering the client expectations
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to determine the most cost\-effective manufacturing solutions and identify value engineering opportunities
- A strong engineering or manufacturing background with good awareness of CNC turning and milling principles
- A thorough understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and principles, tolerances and the feasibility to manufacture a wide range of components from various materials
- Experience of compiling quotations is preferred but not essential
- An awareness of the requirements working within the railway industry is advantageous but not essential
- Experience with machined and cast components and the application of tooling and fixtures
- Experience of fabrication methods preferred but not essential
- Ability to work as part of a team and be self\-motivated to manage own workload to meet deadlines and customer expectations
- Strong IT skills including MS Excel and the use and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Experience of CAD systems is preferred but not essential
- Competent in working to recognised international standards and customer specifications
- Confident written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required to liaise with colleagues, suppliers and customers
- Full UK driving license
- Lives local or willing to commute
- This position is office based (in person)
