EMRI Hub Lead - South Yorkshire
At the Ethnic Minority Research Inclusion (EMRI) network we believe for health and care research to be effective we need representation from all communities, in all different types of research, so we know that if something works, it works for everyone. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team as the EMRI Hub Lead for the South Yorkshire area.
We’ve developed our work programme and priorities based on what the research community and local communities have told us, aiming to make research more accessible and open.
Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) are proud to host the EMRI Network. Previously hosted by the National Institute for Health and Care (NIHR) Yorkshire and Humber Research Delivery Network (RDN), EMRI is a regional initiative dedicated to improving the inclusivity of research across our communities. Its mission is to ensure that people from all backgrounds, particularly those historically under\-represented, have better opportunities to participate in, shape, and benefit from health and care research.
The EMRI Hub Lead act as the EMRI Network’s local contacts around the region, each covering the 3 ICB areas of Yorkshire (South, East and West Yorkshire). They will act as the "Go\-To" contacts for those who:
- Have a question about clinical research
- Would like to promote clinical research in their local community
- Would like someone to come and speak to their community about clinical research
- Would like to get involved in planning clinical research relevant to a community
- Are interested in participating in clinical research
- Are interested in accessing the EMRI workstreams (e.g. Cultural Competency training, Languages and Dialects group and Reverse Mentoring).
- Would like to ensure their grant applications are inclusive and/or wish to include EMRI services within their project.
- Support the development of the EMRI network (Public contributors, academics, communities).
- Support the development of the work programme building on the existing strengths of EMRI (e.g. cultural competency, language translation, reverse mentoring, easy read, video production and voiceover, research advice/review).
- Support the business development and marketing of EMRI through a clear approach to selling services.
