A proper emergency role in a genuinely 24\-hour independent hospital
Bramble and Bear Veterinary Care is an independent, 24\-hour small\-animal veterinary hospital looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated overnight team.
We offer free veterinary consultations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, meaning our night service sees a varied and interesting emergency caseload.
This is a hands\-on clinical role for a vet who enjoys emergency medicine, inpatient care and surgery, and who wants the autonomy to work cases up properly while having an experienced nursing team alongside them.
The role
As one of our night vets, you will be responsible for:
- Urgent and emergency consultations
- Triage and stabilisation of emergency patients
- Diagnostic work\-ups and treatment
- Management of hospitalised and critically ill patients
- Emergency and urgent overnight surgery
- Anaesthesia and peri\-operative management alongside our nursing team
- Developing and adapting treatment plans throughout the night
- Communicating clearly and compassionately with owners
- Maintaining comprehensive clinical records
- Providing thorough handovers to the daytime clinical team
- Working collaboratively with our vets, nurses and VCAs to provide excellent continuity of care
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a vet who is clinically confident, approachable and enjoys being part of a team.
You should:
- Be MRCVS registered and eligible to work in the UK
- Have good small\-animal clinical experience
- Be confident managing urgent and emergency presentations
- Be comfortable managing hospitalised and critically ill patients
- Be capable of performing common emergency surgical procedures
- Be comfortable making independent clinical decisions overnight
- Communicate exceptionally well with clients
- Maintain high\-quality clinical records and handovers
- Work collaboratively with the wider veterinary and nursing team
- Treat colleagues with professionalism and respect
- Actively contribute to a positive and supportive workplace culture
Rota \& salary
We can offer either:
7 nights on / 14 nights off
or
14 nights on / 28 nights off
Shifts are 8:00pm–8:00am.
Salary: £60,000–£80,000 FTE, depending on experience and clinical capability.
The rota provides substantial blocks of time away from work while allowing excellent continuity with emergency and inpatient cases during your working block.
