About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business delivering electrical, controls and automation solutions across a range of technically challenging projects.
This is a hands\-on role where you will be responsible for developing electrical designs, control panel layouts and technical documentation, working closely with controls engineers, project teams, clients and manufacturing partners from initial design through to installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed electrical schematics, control panel layouts and wiring drawings
- Develop General Arrangement (GA), terminal, cable and I/O drawings
- Design electrical control systems and associated control panels
- Select suitable electrical components and control equipment
- Produce electrical calculations and technical documentation
- Work closely with PLC, HMI and SCADA engineers
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, panel manufacturers and subcontractors
- Support panel manufacture, testing and inspection
- Assist with FAT, SAT, installation and commissioning
- Produce and maintain as\-built drawings and project documentation
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, legislation and project specifications
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle
- Attend client and project sites when required
You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, including:
- Tunnel infrastructure and control systems
- Airport projects
- Industrial and manufacturing facilities
- Process and automation projects
- Electrical control and instrumentation systems
- Major infrastructure projects
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in electrical control systems and panel design.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in electrical design engineering
- Strong experience producing electrical schematics and control panel layouts
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar
- Knowledge of control panels, LV systems and electrical components
- Understanding of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems
- Experience with I/O, wiring, terminals and cable schedules
- Experience working alongside panel builders and manufacturing teams
- Good understanding of relevant electrical standards and regulations
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Experience supporting FAT, SAT, installation or commissioning
