Job Overview
The Dispatch and Distribution Manager is responsible for planning, directing and managing the company’s national and international distribution operations within a tissue paper manufacturing business. The role oversees inbound international procurement logistics for raw materials and outbound export distribution of finished tissue products to Ireland and other markets*,* ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, FSC supply chain compliance, cost control and customer satisfaction.

The post holder will manage transport, dispatch, warehousing coordination, inventory movement, compliance systems, and distribution staff to ensure the uninterrupted flow of goods across the supply chain.

This role involves managing transportation, scheduling and managing warehouse staff, oversee training and development activities of forklift drivers, warehouse activities, and distribution processes to ensure timely delivery and optimal utilisation of resources. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in streamlining supply chain operations, supervising teams, and implementing process improvements to enhance overall performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily dispatch and distribution activities, ensuring adherence to schedules and delivery deadlines

  • Plan, organise and manage the company’s dispatch, transport and distribution operations for finished tissue paper products across the UK and Ireland.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of dispatch records, export documentation, inventory logs and transport compliance documentation.

  • Coordinate international inbound logistics for raw materials, packaging materials and production supplies sourced from overseas suppliers.

  • Manage export distribution processes, including shipment scheduling, customs documentation, freight coordination and cross\-border delivery compliance for exports to Ireland.

  • Develop and implement transport and distribution strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce delivery costs and optimise supply\-chain performance.

  • Supervise daily dispatch operations including vehicle scheduling, loading coordination, delivery tracking and inventory movement.

  • Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping companies, customs agents, warehouse operators and logistics providers to ensure timely and cost\-effective transportation of goods.

  • Monitor stock movement, warehouse dispatch accuracy and transportation KPIs to maintain uninterrupted production and customer supply.

  • Assist FSC Chain of Custody operational compliance procedures, ensuring traceability of certified raw materials and finished products throughout the supply chain.

  • Assist with annual FSC compliance audits, maintain supply\-chain records, and implement corrective actions arising from compliance inspections.

  • Produce operational reports relating to freight costs, stock movement, export activity, delivery performance and supply\-chain efficiency.

  • Manage and supervise dispatch, warehouse coordination and logistics staff including recruitment, training, scheduling and performance management.

  • Work closely with production, procurement and sales departments to align manufacturing schedules with customer delivery requirements and export commitments.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives within transport and distribution operations using supply\-chain management systems and operational performance analysis.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of dispatch records, export documentation, inventory logs and transport compliance documentation

  • Take full charge of managing warehouse staff, drivers, and logistics personnel to maintain high standards of safety and efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the safe operation of forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment.

  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and transportation systems

  • Ability to operate forklift trucks safely within a warehouse setting

  • Excellent organisational skills with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret profit \& loss data for strategic decision\-making

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate across multiple departments and external partners.
Pay: £39,800\.00\-£46,828\.17 per year
