Dispatch and Distribution Manager
The Dispatch and Distribution Manager will have responsibility for the day\-to\-day management and coordination of the company's passenger transport and dispatch operations.The principal duties will include:Transport Planning and SchedulingPlanning and coordinating daily passenger transport operations.Organising journey schedules and allocating routes according to operational requirements.Coordinating driver availability and assigning appropriate drivers to scheduled journeys.Monitoring changes to schedules and making appropriate adjustments.Ensuring that scheduled journeys are properly planned and communicated to drivers.Council Contract ManagementCoordinating the operational requirements associated with the company's West Northamptonshire Council contracts.Monitoring delivery of services against agreed schedules and contractual requirements.Maintaining effective communication regarding council\-related transport requirements.Responding to changes in council schedules and transport requirements.Supporting the owner/director in maintaining strong professional relationships with council contacts.Identifying operational issues that could affect contractual performance and taking appropriate action.Driver CoordinationCoordinating approximately 15 self\-employed drivers working with the company.Communicating daily schedules and operational instructions to drivers.Monitoring driver availability and arranging appropriate cover where necessary.Dealing with driver queries and operational problems.Ensuring that drivers receive accurate information regarding routes, times and passenger requirements.Monitoring service performance and identifying recurring operational issues.Dispatch OperationsManaging the day\-to\-day dispatch process.Coordinating pick\-up and drop\-off arrangements.Monitoring journey progress and dealing with delays, cancellations or other disruptions.Reallocating journeys when operational circumstances require changes.Ensuring that information is communicated efficiently between drivers, the business and relevant stakeholders.Maintaining appropriate dispatch and journey records.Operational ManagementMonitoring the overall performance of the transport operation.Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.Developing improved scheduling and dispatch procedures.Assisting with the implementation of systems to improve operational efficiency.Supporting business continuity and contingency planning.Assisting the owner/director with the expansion of the transport operation.Supporting the company when taking on additional contracts and routes.Compliance and Record KeepingEnsuring that appropriate operational records are maintained.Supporting the company in meeting relevant transport, health and safety and contractual requirements.Monitoring documentation relating to drivers and transport operations.Escalating compliance or operational concerns to the owner/director.Supporting the business in maintaining appropriate records for its council contracts and transport activities.7\. Management Position within the BusinessThe proposed Dispatch and Distribution Manager will report directly to the Owner/Director of STAR CAB DAVENTRY LTD.The management structure will be:Owner / Director↓Dispatch and Distribution Manager↓Approximately 15 staffThe manager will not simply perform administrative duties. The position will involve responsibility for the coordination and management of the company's transport operation, including the planning and dispatch of journeys, driver coordination, council contract operations and service performance.9\. Qualifications, Skills and Experience RequiredThe company will seek an individual with appropriate professional experience and skills relevant to transport and distribution management.The successful applicant should have relevant experience in areas such as:Passenger transport management;Transport operations;Dispatch and scheduling;Driver coordination;Fleet or transport operations;Contract transport;Route planning;Logistics or distribution management;Operational management.The candidate should demonstrate:Strong organisational and planning skills;Excellent communication skills;Ability to coordinate multiple drivers and journeys;Ability to manage changing operational requirements;Strong problem\-solving skills;Ability to work under pressure;Good understanding of transport operations;Ability to manage schedules and dispatch systems;Ability to communicate effectively with customers, drivers and external organisations;Ability to monitor service performance;Ability to support the company's growth and expansion.Relevant qualifications and professional experience will be considered as part of the recruitment process.The company will appoint an individual only where it is satisfied that the candidate has the appropriate skills, experience and ability to perform the role.
Pay: £40,000\.00\-£47,487\.22 per year
