Working hours: Monday – Friday, 8\.30am – 5\.00pm – flexibility required (Permanent)
Salary: £45,000 dependant on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Overview
We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer to design and develop innovative mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems.
You will play a key role in delivering compliant, high\-quality solutions that meet technical, safety and client requirements, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed designs for mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems using CAD and relevant software
- Ensure designs meet functional, safety, regulatory, international fire safety standards, EN12101 and client requirements while aligning with client specifications
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and consultants to integrate ventilation systems seamlessly into building designs
- Review CFD analysis to optimise system performance in fire scenarios
- Produce technical documentation, specifications, installation guidelines, and product details
- Provide technical support during early conception of the design, and throughout Design Pack creation
- Research and implement new technologies and materials to enhance system performance
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in designing smoke ventilation or similar building services
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks)
- Strong understanding of ventilation principles
- A basic knowledge of building regulations, fire safety codes, and ventilation systems standards (e.g. EN 12101, BS 9999\)
- Detail\-oriented with a strong focus on quality and compliance
- Innovative problem\-solver with a proactive and adaptable approach
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience in high\-rise residential, new\-build developments or communal building systems
- Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows
- Proactive, adaptable, and resilient with a flexible approach to change
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex workloads
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client presentations, team collaboration, and able to build strong relationships with clients and teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
- Have the desire to learn and continually improve your knowledge
- Coaches and mentors others to develop capability and confidence
- Collaborative Team player who performs well under pressure in a fast\-paced environment
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365 – Excel, Word and PowerPoint
