Job description

Envision Education is currently recruiting for an experienced Deputy SENCO / Nurture Teacher to join a secondary specialist school supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a full\-time role working Monday to Friday, 8:00am \- 4:00pm, with the opportunity to develop into a long\-term position.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and wider leadership team to support the school's SEND provision, while also delivering nurture\-based teaching and interventions to students with SEMH needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and understands how to support young people who may face barriers to learning.

You will need to be confident building positive relationships with students, supporting their emotional regulation and wellbeing, and helping them re\-engage positively with education.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the SENCO to support and develop SEND provision across the school.

  • Assist with the identification, assessment and monitoring of students with additional needs.

  • Support the implementation and review of individual support plans and interventions.

  • Deliver engaging nurture\-based lessons and interventions.

  • Provide academic, social and emotional support to students with SEMH needs.

  • Help students develop emotional regulation, resilience, confidence and independence.

  • Build strong and trusting relationships with students.

  • Adapt teaching and learning approaches to meet individual needs.

  • Support positive behaviour and help students overcome barriers to learning.

  • Monitor and record student progress and contribute to reviews where required.

  • Liaise with teachers, support staff, families and external professionals.

  • Promote an inclusive, safe and nurturing learning environment.

  • Follow safeguarding, behaviour and school policies at all times.
Days and Hours of Work
  • Monday to Friday

  • 8:00am \- 4:00pm

Experience, Training and Qualifications
  • Previous experience working within SEND, SENCO support, nurture provision or a similar role.

  • Strong experience supporting students with SEMH needs.

  • Experience working with secondary\-aged students is highly desirable.

  • Good understanding of SEND provision and strategies for supporting additional needs.

  • Confident delivering nurture\-based interventions and supporting emotional wellbeing.

  • Strong behaviour management and de\-escalation skills.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
