Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Mental Health Intensive Support Team (MhIST) in Wirral. This is an exciting new post within a highly regarded specialist service that supports people with complex mental health needs to live safely and meaningfully in the least restrictive environment.
MhIST is an innovative, recovery\-focused multidisciplinary team with a strong national reputation for delivering high\-quality, person\-centred care. The service works creatively and collaboratively with individuals who are at risk of long inpatient stays or delayed discharge, helping them build stability, independence and community connection.
This post offers the chance to provide expert clinical leadership, work alongside a skilled and supportive MDT, and play a key role in the ongoing development of an ambitious and values\-led service. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and high\-quality assessment and treatment to patients in the least restrictive environment.
The consultant will participate in the Wirral Consultant Psychiatrist on\-call rota.
- To help people to achieve and maintain stability of their mental health and to gain (or regain) the skills and confidence for successful community living.
- To meet people’s clinical needs by providing specialist rehabilitation interventions
- To reduce the need for hospital admissions and increasing stability in the lives of service users and their carers/family
- To improve people’s social and everyday functioning and autonomy by enabling self\-management skills
- To adopt a recovery\-based approach that instils hope and empowers people
- To enable people to access the community assets that can enhance their social networks and social inclusion
- To facilitate people to progress along the rehabilitation care pathway, from higher to lower supported settings
