Compliance Consultant – Financial & Commercial Services Location: Central London

Working Pattern: Full-time | Hybrid working available

Salary: £45,000 – £52,000 per annum, depending on experience

Benefits: Performance bonus, professional development support, private healthcare options and enhanced annual leave

The Opportunity An established and growing financial and commercial services organisation is looking to appoint a Compliance Consultant to strengthen its risk, governance and compliance capabilities.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys understanding how a business operates, identifying areas of regulatory or operational risk, and helping teams put practical controls in place.

Rather than being limited to routine compliance administration, you will work across different areas of the organisation and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, monitoring frameworks and internal standards.

The position offers exposure to a broad range of compliance matters and provides a strong platform for continued progression within compliance, financial crime, risk or governance.

What You'll Be Doing As a Compliance Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing existing business processes, policies and internal controls.

  • Supporting the development and implementation of compliance frameworks.

  • Conducting compliance monitoring and identifying potential weaknesses or control gaps.

  • Assisting with AML, KYC, customer due diligence and financial crime procedures where applicable.

  • Reviewing client and business documentation for completeness and adherence to internal standards.

  • Supporting risk assessments across different business activities.

  • Helping business teams understand and implement relevant policies and procedures.

  • Maintaining accurate compliance records, monitoring logs and supporting documentation.

  • Assisting with internal compliance reviews and preparing findings for senior management.

  • Monitoring changes to legislation, regulatory expectations and industry standards relevant to the organisation's activities.

  • Supporting the investigation and escalation of potential compliance concerns.

  • Contributing to staff training and compliance awareness initiatives.

  • Working with management to improve governance and operational controls.

  • Assisting with responses to audits, due-diligence exercises and information requests.

  • Producing clear reports highlighting findings, risks and recommended corrective actions.

What We're Looking For We're interested in candidates who can combine attention to detail with commercial awareness.

You may already be working within compliance, financial crime, risk, banking, accountancy, insurance, professional services or another regulated or compliance-focused environment.

You should ideally have:

  • Experience or strong knowledge of compliance, risk or financial crime principles.

  • An understanding of AML, KYC and customer due-diligence processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.

  • Confidence reviewing policies, procedures and business documentation.

  • The ability to identify potential risks and communicate them clearly.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities.

  • A professional approach when dealing with confidential or sensitive information.

Relevant professional qualifications or continued professional development in compliance, AML, financial crime, risk or financial services would be advantageous, although practical experience and demonstrable knowledge will also be considered.

What Makes This Role Different Compliance is increasingly becoming a strategic business function rather than simply a box-ticking exercise.

You'll have the opportunity to understand the commercial reasoning behind business decisions while helping ensure appropriate standards, controls and procedures remain in place.

You will work with colleagues across multiple functions, giving you broader exposure than a traditional compliance administration position.

Development & Progression The organisation actively supports continued professional development.

Depending on performance and experience, progression opportunities may include:

Senior Compliance Consultant

Compliance Manager

Financial Crime Manager

Risk & Governance Manager

Head of Compliance

Professional training and relevant industry development may also be supported as part of your career progression.

Benefits The package includes:

  • £45,000 – £52,000 base salary

  • Annual performance-related bonus

  • Hybrid working opportunities

  • Professional development and training support

  • Enhanced annual leave

  • Private healthcare options

  • Pension scheme

  • Employee wellbeing benefits

  • Structured performance and salary reviews

  • Clear internal progression opportunities

Who Would Suit This Position? This opportunity would particularly suit someone who asks why a process exists, rather than simply following it.

You'll be comfortable challenging weaknesses constructively, analysing information objectively and helping colleagues find practical solutions that balance compliance requirements with commercial objectives.

If you're looking to develop a long-term career within compliance, financial crime, risk and governance while gaining exposure to a varied financial and commercial environment, we'd be interested in hearing from you.

Apply now to be considered for the Compliance Consultant position.
