CARETAKER
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Caretaker to join our team and assist our lead caretaker in the smooth daily operations of our busy general practice. If you are a hands\-on person with great attention to detail, this role is an excellent opportunity to use your maintenance skills to provide a clean and safe environment for our staff and patients.
Summary
Working alongside the Lead Caretaker and one other Caretaker, you will help secure the premises and manage the daily upkeep of our building and grounds. Duties include opening and locking the premises, conducting safety checks, and completing minor repairs or maintenance tasks. This active role requires you to work both indoors and outdoors.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Security: Locking and unlocking buildings, securing windows, and monitoring alarm systems or security cameras. On occasion, you may be called out in the event of the alarm bring set off. This may be during unsocial hours.
Maintenance \& Repairs: Performing routine repairs, such as repairing fixtures and fittings, basic plumbing, and painting and decorating including cleaning tasks. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and building safety standards. Maintain accurate paper and digital maintenance record keeping.
Hand and Power Tools: Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete tasks in carpentry, basic plumbing, tiling, painting and decorating.
Clinical Waste Management: Managing refuse in line with waste disposal legislations and ensuring bins are emptied regularly.
Health and Safety: Inspecting premises for hazards, conducting regular safety checks such as fire alarms testing, water safety checks and emergency lighting checks.
Facilities Management: Setting up seminar room for meetings, managing cleaning materials, and supervising external contractors.
Seasonal Duties: Clearing snow and gritting paths.
Sustainability: Support sustainability efforts by considering environmental impact and material usage.
Communication: Communicate effectively with colleagues to gather information and clarify repair needs. Book and liaise with outside contractors for major repair work.
Problem Solving: Have a structured approach to solving problems and recognises the limit of own personal competencies and escalates issues when necessary.
Resilience: Maintain composure during challenging situations.
You would generally be required to work between 07\.00 and 12\.30 Monday to Friday with some Saturday mornings. GCSE's in English and Maths (or equivalent) preferred.
