Hours: This role operates on a 365\-day rota, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep\-ins and other public holidays as required

Lead with compassion. Create stability. Help young people heal.

At Solice Care, we create safe, structured and therapeutic homes where children and young people can begin to heal, build trust and move towards brighter futures. We are looking for a compassionate, experienced and resilient Senior Therapeutic Care Practitioner to join our team and play a key role in delivering high\-quality care, consistent therapeutic practice and positive day\-to\-day leadership within the home.

This is more than a senior care role. It is an opportunity to model excellent practice, support colleagues on shift, build meaningful relationships with children and young people, and help create the stability, connection and boundaries that enable recovery and progress. You will be part of a trauma\-informed team that believes behaviour is communication and that healing happens through connection, consistency and compassion.

Why Join Solice Care?

You will join a values\-led organisation focused on creating positive outcomes for children and young people through residential care, therapeutic support and close partnership working with education, health and care professionals.

  • A rewarding senior role where your leadership and support can have a lasting impact on a young person’s life.

  • A therapeutic, child\-centred environment built on empathy, consistency and professional curiosity.

  • Training, supervision and development opportunities to help you build a long\-term career in residential childcare.

  • The opportunity to help guide and support less experienced colleagues on shift.

  • The chance to be part of a growing organisation committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.
What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Therapeutic Care Practitioner, you will provide high\-quality care and therapeutic support to children and young people living in our residential homes, while also taking a leading role in shift coordination, practice modelling and maintaining high standards of care. You will help create a safe, nurturing and predictable environment, build trusting relationships, support emotional regulation, and encourage each young person to develop confidence, resilience and independence.

  • Build warm, consistent and respectful relationships with children and young people.

  • Lead shifts effectively, helping to ensure safe staffing, clear communication and consistent practice.

  • Model trauma\-informed and therapeutic approaches for colleagues and support good decision\-making during challenging situations.

  • Support daily routines, education, health appointments, family time and independence skills.

  • Contribute to care planning, safeguarding, risk management, recording and multi\-agency working.

  • Promote a home environment that feels safe, welcoming, structured and supportive.

  • Support the induction, guidance and development of less experienced team members.

  • Use the ClearCare IT system to maintain accurate, timely and factual records.

  • Administer medication in line with policies and procedures.

  • Escalate concerns appropriately and contribute to safeguarding culture across the home.
What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a candidate with strong experience of supporting children and young people in residential childcare or closely related settings, including those who may present with complex needs, challenging behaviours and heightened risks. The successful candidate will demonstrate a consistent commitment to safeguarding, professional boundaries, therapeutic practice and positive behaviour support, together with the confidence and judgement required to take a senior role in a regulated care environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England), or a recognised equivalent relevant to residential childcare, is essential for this role.

  • Relevant experience of working with children and young people in residential childcare, supported accommodation, education, youth work or a related care setting.

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting children and young people who may present with challenging behaviours, complex emotional needs and heightened risks.

  • Knowledge of and experience working with children subject to deprivation of liberty arrangements and those presenting with harmful sexual behaviour.

  • Ability to build positive, trusting and professional relationships with children, colleagues and partner agencies.

  • Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm, consistent and professionally curious in challenging situations.

  • Sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, professional boundaries, risk assessment and risk management in residential care.

  • Ability to take the lead on shift and promote high standards of care and recording.

  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, sleep\-ins and bank holidays where required.

  • A full UK driving licence, as travel or transport responsibilities are part of the role.
Desirable Criteria
  • Knowledge of trauma\-informed practice, attachment\-aware approaches or therapeutic care models.

  • Experience of mentoring, coaching or supporting junior staff in a residential care environment.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain accurate, timely and factual records.

  • A medication administration qualification or experience administering medication in a residential setting.

  • Willingness to continue professional development and undertake further relevant training.
