Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide high\-quality support and personal care to individuals in nursing homes. Responsibilities
- Assist residents and clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing symptoms, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA regulations and care plans established by nurses or medical staff
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal service
- Maintain cleanliness of the living environment through regular cleaning duties to promote hygiene and safety
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s \<PERSON\> to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to foster emotional well\-being
- Document patient observations accurately and contribute to ongoing care plans
- Follow safety protocols including CPR, first aid, and infection control procedures at all times
- Support patients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorders, or developmental disabilities with patience and understanding
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and adherence to care plans
- Assist with patient monitoring during hospice or palliative care situations as required
- Prior experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home \& community care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs measurement
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance or dementia care are advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorders or memory care needs is desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and resident interaction
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
