Café Manager
OVERVIEW: The Depot Bakery is looking to appoint a new Cafe Manager for our flagship premises at Coach House, Hillsborough Park. Since opening in 2022, the Depot Park Cafe has become a thriving cafe enjoying a loyal customer following and is recognised as a becaon of qulaity for brunch, lunch and baked goods. Our customers have come to expect high standards of cuustomer service, and the consistent delivery of a quality food and drink offer.
The Cafe Manager will oversee all front of house operations at The Depot Bakery 92 Burton Rd and focus on maximising revenue, product quality and guest welfare/experience. The Cafe Manager strives for operational profitability and supports a strategic direction / vision of business that is underpinned by values of quality, integrity and personality. The Cafe Manager works closely with the bakery and kitchen teams and leads all front of house staff to ensure they represent these values and deliver our organisational goals in an effective, efficient, profitable and safe way. You will be supported actively by the Ops manager who knows the business inside out, and who has recently vacated this post herself to take on wider group responsibility.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Office and Team Management:
- Line management of a collaborative and multidisciplinary front of house team, comprising of baristas, hosts, counter and service staff
- Supporting and overseeing on the job training of new colleagues inline with cafe
- Running busy services often in excess of 300 covers, managing and allocating shift plans, and ensuring aa consistent compliance with the established order of service.
- Driving innovation and change regarding service standards and cutomer service improvement
- Overseeing the recruitment and induction of new members of staff, with the support of Ops Manager
- Promote a collaborative work culture and maintain the great connection between kitchen and Front of Hosuse Team
- Supporting the Ops Manager to create effective front of house rotas, ensuring budget compliance and maximising productivity and ensuring an even workload across the team.
- Approving timesheets, when required, managing holiday requests to inform payroll.
- Ensuring the team has an organised, safe and productive place to work, the business is well stocked and prepared and that the office functions efficiently.
- Disciplining and dismissing staff if and when required
- Demonstrable barista experience with clear passion and knowledge of the industry in Sheffield, and the wider UK.
- Confident with creating latte art whilst prioritising drink quality to Depot specifications, but also catering to individual guest preferences.
- Opening, closing and regular maintenance of a multi\-grouphead espresso machine and Mythos and EK coffee grinders.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in creating and implementing recipes for our rotating everchanging offer of house and guest roasteries.
- Ensuring smooth operation of floor service, upholding excellent service standards in compliance with order of service.
- Lead service alongside supervisory members of staff and ensure all staff have clear allocated roles and responsibilities throughout their shifts and that they themselves exhibit Depot company values and behaviours.
- Promote a strong knowledge of all product lines and menu items, within all team members.
- Ensure sales interaction with customers on key product lines to minimise wastage with a focus on pastries, confectionary, retail bread and specials
- Lead responsibility for satisfying all online orders when leading service.
- Collect and collate data on wastage reports, regularly liaise with kitchen and bakery to adjust standing orders to accommodate wastage patterns.
- Work closely with the bakers and kitchen staff to ensure you act as a guardian of quality control.
- Supported by the Operations Manager, order of core stock lines, packaging, soft drinks, disposables and janitorial.
- Regularly update and maintain e\-commerce platforms promoting home delivery aspects of the business.
- Work directly with IT support colleagues namely Pine media, GoodTill, and Xero to ensure fully supported cloud based EPOS and payment services whilst on shift. Report and troubleshoot issues, working with colleagues to achieve resolution.
- Deliver and maintain End of Day reporting and cash management processes.
- Work with the Operations Manager to ensure all purchases made by all team members follow a clear and compliant procurement process. Purchase ordering all cost of goods and obtaining permission for any capital or miscellaneous items spent over £100 in value.
- Assisting with ensuring all social media campaigns are to brand standards and with a clear tone of voice.
- Create regular social media updates, direct marketing campaigns and engage directly with neighbouring partners Peddler, and others at 92 Burton Rd.
- Liaising directly with customers via email, phone and web and social media messaging.
- Working closely with the Head Chef and Head Barista to ensure any event management needs are met with sufficient stock, rota\-ing, organisational planning and any other ad\-hoc resource.
- Be a positive and engaging voice in the business promoting The Depot Bakery as a venue for hire.
- Lead wider partnership work with the landlord, park stakeholders, park users groups and Tramlines event team.

- Reconcile invoices against purchase orders through EPOS system, and maintain filing systems for any external invoices and proof of expenditure.
