Butcher
About Us
Fosse Meadows is a growing, high\-welfare poultry and food production business supplying premium wholesale, retail and farmers’ market customers.
We are known for:
- High\-quality, ethically produced food
- Hands\-on, practical working environment
- A business that is growing quickly and constantly improving
The role
We’re looking for a hands\-on Butcher to support the day\-to\-day running of our butchery, poultry cutting and abattoir operations.
This role sits under the Butchery Manager and is about making sure work happens properly on the ground — keeping things moving, maintaining standards and leading an area day\-to\-day.
You’ll be working closely with the Butchery Manager — both of you will be hands\-on on the floor, driving output and standards across the operation.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading part of daily production (cutting, red meat or abattoir depending on the day)
- Whole carcass butchery of lamb \& pork
- Producing added value products from sausages to bacon
- Working alongside the team to keep things running smoothly
- Making sure work is done:
- safely
- efficiently
- to the right standard
- Supporting flow between:
- abattoir → cutting → packing
- Spotting issues early and raising them
- Hitting daily targets (output, pace and quality)
- Maintaining product standards and consistency
- Ensuring hygiene, food safety and traceability
- Keeping your area organised and running properly
- Supporting and guiding operatives on shift
- Show others how to do things properly
- Keep standards consistent
- Support less experienced team members
- Lead from the front — this is a hands\-on role
Someone who:
- Has experience in butchery or food production
- Is practical, organised and reliable
- Is comfortable working at pace
- Is happy working across different areas (including abattoir)
- Is ready to step up and take ownership
- You’ll be on your feet and involved all day
- The role moves between butchery, cutting and abattoir
- You’ll be working as part of a hands\-on team, not an office\-based structure
- It’s a growing business with opportunities to progress
If you’re looking for a step up into a Team Leader role and want to be part of a growing, hands\-on production business, we’d like to hear from you.
