Business Development Manager
Business Development Manager, Construction Industry Scheme Payroll Sales
Field Based, Nationwide
This role requires proven experience selling payroll or compliance services directly to construction contractors and subcontractors under the Construction Industry Scheme, and a genuine appetite for uncapped, commission driven earning. This is not a generalist field sales role. Please read the requirements below before applying.
Accomplish Today's client provides payroll services to the construction industry, managing subcontractor payments under the Construction Industry Scheme and keeping contractors compliant with His Majesty's Revenue and Customs. We are looking for an experienced new business hunter, someone who already understands the Construction Industry Scheme, knows how to sell into contractors, and is driven by earning what they are worth rather than a comfortable ceiling.
This role is built for someone who:
- Treats a basic salary as the floor, not the target. You want commission to be where the real money is made
- Does not need managing, chasing, or motivating. You set your own diary, your own targets, and beat them
- Gets a genuine buzz from closing a deal in person, not just booking the meeting
- Would rather own a nationwide territory and be judged purely on results than sit in an office being judged on activity
- Has probably already looked at what top performers in field sales earn and thought "I could do that"
This is not an account management role, and it is not a role for someone looking to break into field sales or construction. You will be comfortable sitting across the table from a contractor in their own office, understanding their business, and closing the deal there and then.
Success is measured simply. It is contractors actually running payroll with us, ideally within the first week of signing. It is not meetings booked, and it is not a pipeline of interested prospects.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and approach construction contractors who could benefit from moving their subcontractor payroll onto a compliant Construction Industry Scheme solution
- Build relationships directly with business owners and decision makers, in person, on their own ground
- Understand each contractor's current payroll and subcontractor arrangements, and present a clear case for switching
- Close new business and support contractors through onboarding, so payroll is actually running quickly after signature
- Manage your own diary and pipeline across a nationwide territory with minimal oversight
- Represent Accomplish Today's client professionally, working business to business and, where relevant, directly with self employed subcontractors
- Proven track record selling into the construction sector, ideally Construction Industry Scheme payroll, umbrella payroll, construction compliance, or a closely related service sold directly to contractors and subcontractors
- Genuine, working knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme, how it operates, how contractors and subcontractors are affected, and why a business would switch provider
- A track record of closing revenue in person, not generating meetings or handing off to someone else
- Demonstrable self motivation. You can point to a time you built a pipeline from nothing, with no leads handed to you
- Comfortable working independently, home based, with regular travel to meet contractors face to face nationwide
- Full driving licence
- An existing, portable book of construction contractor contacts
What is on offer
- Basic salary £35,000 to £50,000, dependent on experience
- Uncapped commission, paid on payroll that actually runs, not on names on a list. Top performers in this space are earning well beyond basic
- A genuinely field based role. Your territory, your diary, your results
- No cap, no ceiling, no limit on what you can take home
