About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer or a Project Manager to join a growing engineering business specialising in controls, automation and industrial engineering solutions.

This role allows you occasionally work from home on occasion but will be working on site full time regularly.

You will be responsible for delivering projects from initial design through to testing, installation, commissioning and warranty. Working closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal engineering teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical standards.

This is a varied hands\-on role covering PLC, HMI and SCADA systems, electrical control systems, industrial communications and automation.

About You: Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions based on customer requirements and project specifications.

  • Produce system schematics, process diagrams, flow charts and state diagrams.

  • Design PLC, HMI and SCADA systems, including sensor specification and interfacing.

  • Design industrial communication networks including Ethernet, Fibre and Serial.

  • Work alongside CAD engineers on control panel layouts and associated electrical designs.

  • Complete power and heating calculations where required.

  • Develop I/O and alarm schedules and maintain project compliance documentation.

  • Select suitable, compliant and fit\-for\-purpose hardware.

  • Create and modify PLC, HMI and SCADA software.

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain equipment and services.

  • Supervise equipment manufacture and panel build.

  • Develop factory and site testing specifications and test cases.

  • Carry out and support FAT and SAT activities.

  • Identify, manage and close out defects during testing.

  • Prepare equipment for delivery and coordinate logistics to site.

  • Produce RAMS and other documentation required for site works.

  • Supervise subcontractors during site activities.

  • Ensure drawings and documentation are maintained and updated to as\-built status.

  • Produce O\&M manuals, spares lists and health and safety documentation.

  • Provide technical support and attend sites to resolve warranty issues.

  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, quality and health \& safety procedures.
About You

We are looking for an experienced Controls, Automation or Project Engineer with a strong technical background and the ability to take projects from concept through to completion.

You should have experience with:

  • PLC programming and control systems

  • HMI and SCADA development

  • Industrial automation

  • Electrical control systems

  • Industrial communications networks

  • Electrical schematics and system design

  • Factory and site acceptance testing

  • Project engineering and technical documentation

  • Working with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
Experience working across industrial, manufacturing, process, energy or infrastructure environments would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be technically capable, organised and comfortable working across both office and site environments.

Pay: £50,000\.00\-£65,000\.00 per year
