Assistant Youth Support Worker

Early Help – Education and Children’s Services

Location: Various across Lancashire

Salary: £24,121 \- £26,341 (pro\-rata) Qualified \| £23,496 \- £23,825 (pro\-rata) Unqualified

Grade: JNC 7–10 (Qualified) \| JNC 5–6 (Unqualified) \- NVQ/RVQ 2 minimum \- Locally recognised JNC Qualification in Youth and Community Work (If you hold this qualification, you must complete it within a set time and will start on the trainee scale)

About You…

Passion for Youth Work – You care deeply about improving life chances for young people. You’ll help create safe spaces where they can develop their identity, build confidence, and feel valued.

Engagement – You’ll work alongside Youth Workers to deliver exciting programmes and projects that tackle real issues such as health, lifestyle, relationships, and community engagement.

Role Model – You’ll demonstrate positive behaviours, patience, and resilience, inspiring young people to make positive choices and thrive.

What You’ll Do…

  • Assist in delivering youth provision and targeted projects across Lancashire.

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with young people and provide guidance on issues affecting their lives.

  • Support activities that promote personal and social development, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Help maintain safe environments and uphold safeguarding standards.

Work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet the needs of young people.
  • Essential Skills \& Experience:

  • NVQ/RVQ Level 2 or JNC\-recognised Youth and Community Work qualification (or willingness to work towards this).

  • Ability to engage and build rapport with young people in diverse settings.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Patience, flexibility, and resilience.
