As part of the Specialist CAMHS Community South Team, the Assistant Psychologist will support and enhance the psychological care and assessment of young people and their families/carers, under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. You will support care served with Nottingham city and Nottinghamshire county areas.

To support and carry out a range of psychometric and other assessments with people who have mental health difficulties.

To support and carry out defined therapeutic interventions with young people with mental health difficulties.

To support interventions with staff teams, such as consultancy, training, identifying resources, multi\-disciplinary working, signposting staff to appropriate services and service promotion.

To support data collection and analysis, for both clinical and service evaluation, as required. This may include collecting and reviewing a variety of data such as psychometric scores, interview data, historical information, literature searches. It may also involve data analysis and report writing under supervision.

To undertake the above tasks across Nottinghamshire City and County under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. This will include direct individual and group work with young people and their families/carers, liaison with external agencies (e.g., schools) and in conjunction with other registered professionals offer consultative work to MDT.

Provide and receive complex and sensitive information with clients and staff, e.g. relaying condition related information, in situations where there are barriers to communication, understanding and acceptance such as disability, cultural differences or mental health needs. Communicating in a highly emotive atmosphere (such as therapeutic sessions, social care, educational environments) where there is a degree of resistance or antagonism to the information being communicated requiring the use of a high level of interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate effectively with a range of professionals and agencies within different settings. To communicate in group settings which might include therapeutic groups and liaison with external agencies, such as school/college.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010\.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26\.40 (standard) or £54\.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
