Assistant Manager

At *The Base*, we are building a premium café–restaurant and neighbourhood lounge in the heart of Islington, designed around quality, craft, and community, from morning coffee and brunch through to evening dining and drinks.

We are looking for a confident, service\-driven Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in leading the team, delivering exceptional standards, and helping shape a refined café–restaurant experience.

The Role

• Support the day\-to\-day running of a premium café–restaurant operation


• Lead from the floor across barista, table service, and guest experience


• Maintain consistently high standards across food, drink, and service


• Coach and develop the team to deliver warm, polished hospitality


• Build strong relationships within the local community


• Support performance targets, stock control, and operational excellence

• 2–3 years’ experience as a Restaurant Assistant Manager or Café Manager within a quality\-led environment


• Strong barista experience with an eye for detail


• Confident running table service, with good food knowledge and some wine understanding


• A natural leader with excellent communication and presence on the floor


• Experience supporting recruitment and developing a team


• Good understanding of stock control and health \& safety


• A genuine passion for hospitality, quality, and people


• Comfortable working a mix of daytime and evening shifts
