Apprentice Dental Nurse

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Apprentice Dental Nurse to join our dental practice. This entry\-level role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in dental nursing while supporting the delivery of high\-quality patient care. The position is paid and suitable for individuals interested in pursuing a career in dental healthcare. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced dental professionals, developing essential skills in patient care, clinical procedures, and practice organisation. The succesful candidate will be enrolled onto a modern apprenticeship course leading to a SQA Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 PDA/SVQ in Dental Nursing

Responsibilities

• Assisting dentists during various dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety


• Preparing treatment rooms and sterilising equipment in accordance with health and safety standards


• Providing patients with pre\- and post\-treatment instructions, ensuring clear communication


• Supporting the reception team with administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling and record keeping


• Maintaining a clean and organised clinical environment


• Gaining experience in patient care, infection control, and dental assisting techniques


• Developing IT skills related to dental practice management software


• Communicating effectively with patients, colleagues, and external healthcare providers


• Upholding confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Requirements

• Genuine interest in patient care and a career in dental healthcare


• Good command of English, both written and spoken


• Strong communication skills to interact confidently with patients and team members


• Organised with excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently


• Basic IT literacy for handling digital records and appointment systems


• Previous experience in nursing or healthcare is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided


• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy clinical environment


• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development

Pay: Up to £12\.71 per hour
