We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Accounting Manager to join our team in Oxford and take ownership of the day to day accounting function.

This is a hands on role with real responsibility, real influence and plenty of opportunity to make things better.

You won’t simply be processing numbers and ticking boxes. You’ll work closely with senior management and teams across the business, help shape financial processes, solve problems and make sure the financial side of the business runs as smoothly as possible.

And yes, we use Sage 200, so if you know your way around it, you’re already speaking our language.

What Will You Actually Be Doing?

• Quite a lot, but nothing boring for the sake of being boring.


• You’ll take ownership of the accounting function and make sure everything is accurate, organized and running as it should.

• Managing the day to day accounting function and ensuring accurate and timely financial records


• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports


• Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations


• Managing VAT and other relevant tax and statutory requirements


• Monitoring cash flow and supporting budgeting and forecasting


• Supporting external accountants and audits


• Managing, supporting and developing the accounting team


• Reviewing supplier invoices, costs and discrepancies


• Working closely with Procurement and other departments


• Taking ownership of Sage 200 and helping us get the most from it


• Improving accounting processes, systems and controls


• Spotting inefficiencies and finding smarter ways of doing things


• Investigating anything that doesn't quite add up, because apparently spreadsheets enjoy keeping us on our toes


• Providing senior management with accurate and useful financial information to support business decisions


• In short, you’ll be the person making sure the financial engine keeps running properly.

• £36,000 to £45,000 salary, depending on experience and skills

• An experienced Accounting Manager or senior accounting professional


• Experienced in managing an accounting function


• Confident working independently and taking ownership


• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail


• Comfortable working with senior management and other departments


• A problem solver who doesn't panic when something doesn't balance


• Someone who naturally looks for ways to improve processes


• Confident using Sage 200


• Comfortable managing deadlines and competing priorities


• A strong communicator


• Professional, reliable and commercially minded


• Someone who can take responsibility but isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in
