WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Position Background
A vacancy has arisen for a 3rd Line IT Support Engineer to join the growing Rheinmetall Defence UK (RDUK) team based at our Telford location (RBSL). The business is seeking an energetic, self\-motivated individual willing to assume a wide range of responsibilities within a dynamic and evolving environment.
Reporting directly to the IT Support Manager, you will provide vital technical support for the ongoing and expanding day\-to\-day IT needs of the business. This strategic role provides the critical 3rd line technical skills required to support this transition and drive the long\-term growth of our Information Management \& Technology (IM\&T) division.
The primary location for this role is our Telford Manufacturing facility, with occasional UK travel required to support our other RDUK sites.
Position Responsibilities:
- Insourcing \& Transition Support: Provide the high\-level technical expertise required to successfully migrate services from the outsourced vendor to the internal IM\&T team.
- 3rd Line Escalation: Act as the ultimate internal technical authority for resolving complex systems incidents and supporting the escilations to our 3rd party vendors where required.
- Telford Site Support: Manage and maintain the primary IT infrastructure, server rooms, and localized hardware \& software assets at the Telford Manufacturing facility
- Cross\-Site Mobility: Travel occasionally to secondary Rheinmetall Defence UK facilities to support deployments, upgrades, and local infrastructure projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify operational bottlenecks and proactively implement modern IT solutions to support a rapidly expanding user base.
Required Experience \& Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Strong background operating in a dedicated 3rd line systems administration, or infrastructure support role.
- Core Technology Stack: Advanced administrative knowledge Microsoft 365 environments, Windows, Active Directory, Group Policy, Cloud systems, Intune.
- Vetting \& Security: Must hold, or be fully eligible to obtain, UK Security Check (SC) clearance to handle sensitive defence sector data.
- ITIL experience with Serivice now or similar ITSM paltform
- Personal Attributes: High energy, strong self\-motivation, and a flexible mindset to handle diverse responsibilities in an evolving environment.
- Licensing: Full UK driving licence to facilitate required business travel between corporate sites.
- Develop and maintain core IT processes and policies which comply with all internal guidelines and security requirements.
- Ensure adherence to policies, processes, procedures and best practice throughout the delivery of IT services. Including educating users to comply with these and cyber security rules.
- Applications, Entra / Azure / Microsoft Intune, Power Platform, Automation / Optimisation,
- Security stack, SharePoint, 365 Environments, Teams, Exchange Online, AI Integration
- Service Now.
- Strong IT Background including demonstrable experience of a diverse skillset within an IT department or MSP. Ideally with corporate IT experience.
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
