NHS Lothian is excited to be recruiting to Speech \& Language Therapy Assistant

We are seeking a reliable, flexible and organised person to join the team of Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants working in community and education settings across Edinburgh.

The successful applicant will be part of a team delivering programmes of therapy input to children with Speech, Language and Communication needs. You will be visiting clinics, homes, schools and nurseries to work with children and young people and their families. You will be required to create and print multiple copies of therapy materials using picture library software on the pc/copier/laminator. You will be part of a busy team often working to tight deadlines and must be able to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. After a period of training there may also be opportunities to support more experienced staff in delivering training materials to staff in nursery settings.

It is essential that you are familiar with Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and that your written and spoken language skills are of a high standard. It is desirable that you have previous experience of NHS software applications such as Trak and are familiar with using Boardmaker Picture Library software and other digital media, although some training can be given. It would be desirable to have some awareness of communication needs in the context of additional support needs although, again, training on this can be provided.

The speech and language therapy service is innovative and supportive. We are committed to the principles of GIRFEC and UNCRC and to providing an evidence\-based, high\-quality service focused on the child’s needs. Support is provided for staff in district based and clinically focused teams. All staff have a personal development plan and are encouraged to extend their skills through a variety of CPD activities. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
