What’s the job?

This is a 2 year Fixed Term Contract opportunity to influence how future Chartered Accountants learn, think and apply their expertise in a fast\-changing profession.

As Subject Manager, you will help shape practical, engaging and future\-focused learning across finance, audit and assurance, ensuring students are equipped to build confidence, exercise judgement and respond to the real challenges they will face throughout their careers.

You will bring technical subject matter to life by connecting syllabus content to real business situations, helping students see not only what they need to know, but how to apply that knowledge with insight, integrity and commercial awareness.

Taking ownership of key areas including business management, finance, audit and assurance, you will ensure content remains current, high quality and relevant to the needs of students, employers and the wider profession. Working collaboratively with tutors, digital content specialists, assessment colleagues and external stakeholders, you will influence how these subjects are taught, assessed and experienced, making learning more accessible, applied and future\-ready.

Through your work, students will develop the skills that matter for the future of the profession: analysing business performance, interpreting financial information, evaluating risk, using data, exercising professional scepticism and communicating clear, evidence\-based recommendations.

This fixed\-term role offers the chance to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the curriculum, helping ensure ICAS students are prepared not just for today’s exams, but for the opportunities, expectations and challenges of tomorrow’s profession.

Key responsibilities

You will turn technical expertise into clear, engaging learning and assessment content. Key responsibilities include:

Manage and update subject syllabuses, content and future roadmaps.

  • Develop learning and assessment content that is accurate, engaging and syllabus\-aligned.

  • Work with colleagues to support effective course build, assessment alignment and digital deliver

  • Ensure finance, business management, audit and assurance content is current and professionally relevant.

  • Embed professional skills including judgement, scepticism, ethics, governance and communication.

  • Use student data, feedback and stakeholder insight to drive continuous improvement.
Who do we need?

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with curiosity, clarity and a genuine interest in developing others. You will be confident working with complex information and turning it into practical, relevant and accessible learning for students.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

· Strong technical knowledge across one or more areas of finance, audit or assurance.

· Experience applying finance, audit or assurance expertise in an accountancy, business, finance or related professional environment.

· Ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, practical guidance and learning content.

· Strong understanding of current developments affecting the accounting, finance, audit and assurance profession, with the ability to identify implications for syllabus and content development.

· Ability to use student performance data, feedback and stakeholder insight to drive continuous improvement in learning content.

· Hold a Chartered Accountancy qualification or equivalent qualification (SCQF Level 11/Masters level).

Pay: £50,000\.00\-£65,750\.00 per year
