AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your applicationbut your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.

  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.

  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI\-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.
Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand younot an AI tool.

NHS Lothian Clinical Health Psychology Service is pleased to advertise this permanent 0\.4wte Band 8A Applied Psychology post within the Plastic Surgery Service, based at St John’s Hospital in Livingston.

The Plastic Surgery Service follows the NHS Scotland National Referral Protocol, which outlines criteria for aesthetic surgeries which can be offered via the NHS, where there is evidence of symptomatic and functional issues which are amenable to treatment. The primary role of the psychologist (as a core part of the wider MDT) is to assess psychological suitability for a procedure to minimise the likelihood of potential harm being inadvertently caused to the patient. The psychologist also provides an important role in providing psychological support and therapy to patients where surgery may be contra\-indicated due to psychological factors. This post\-holder provides supervision to the current Band 7 Applied Psychologist within the service and is linked with the wider Clinical Health Psychology Service, which comprises 33 psychologists and psychological therapists working across 15 physical health specialities. The Clinical Health Psychology team is very friendly and welcoming, and there are plenty of opportunities to link in with team peer supervision and CPD activities.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Dr Grainne O’Brien (Senior Clinical Health Psychologist) at: grainne.obrien@nhs.scot
