The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Quality Co\-ordinator to join the Quality Directorate as part of the Cancer Audit Team, to support the Quality Programme Manager in the delivery of a portfolio of Quality projects designed to support delivery of the highest quality health and care services in NHS Lanarkshire through monitoring and using performance, quality and safety data to identify issues that need to be addressed and taking follow up action to improve the quality of the care and services delivered.

We are looking for someone who is motivated by the opportunity to improve quality within healthcare. In our team, you will play a key role in supporting our portfolio of local and national clinical audit priorities.

In this key role, you will:


  • Support the implementation of the Lanarkshire Quality Approach through the promotion and application of the approach across the organisation.

  • Supporting organisational programmes of quality assurance activity.

  • Scoping and consultation processes involving the identification of key quality indicators, and the appropriate engagement of key stakeholders, to inform the development of robust, measurable outputs and supporting measurement frameworks.

  • Co\-ordinating the exchange of quality assurance data between relevant departments and sites within NHS Lanarkshire, other hospitals and external bodies e.g., Scottish Government, ISD, NHS HIS, Managed Clinical Networks, etc.

  • Supervision, training and direction of staff at AfC bands 3\. This includes determining their workload by allocating tasks and managing the quality of the work undertaken and responsibility for motivating and developing to ensure post holders have the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to achieve individual and collective objectives

What You'll Bring:


  • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience (e.g. demonstrable experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Improvement post)

  • Experience of working in support of clinicians involved in Quality Assurance or Quality Improvement projects, or a background in a data management related role.

  • High level of I.T. skills and a highly competent user of all Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Internet Explorer and Outlook

  • Knowledge of the principles of the quality strategy and national quality agenda
