TITLE: Senior Support Worker\- Supported Accommodation / 16\+ Newport, Gwent

LOCATION: Newport Primary Location and Bristol Secondary.

SALARY: £13\.75 to £15\.50 per hour plus benefits

Night Sleeps: 11pm to 7am paid at £65 per shift to commence then £75 after probation

HOURS: Full\-time – Hours 35\+ hours per week with On Call Hours as needed. Across 365 days of the year.

Typical shift pattern 9\.45am to 11pm day shift; night shift 11pm to 7am; followed by 7am to 10am to finish x 2

The Role

We are looking for a Supported Accommodation Senior Support worker to join our Ofsted Registered Supported Accommodation 16\+ service in Bristol.

Our organisation specialises in providing care and support for children and young people who have complex needs which include Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Sanctuary Seeking, UASC and are aged between 16\+

Working as a Senior Support Worker / Team Leader, you must be willing to go above and beyond for the children and young people, ensuring that they have an experience of childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood.

Main Responsibilities, Tasks, and Duties

As a Senior Support Worker, you will be responsible for directing, supporting, and managing the staff team and ensuring they are completing their specific tasks for which they are responsible for.

Support

· Lead shifts in the absence of the Manager

· Responsible for maintaining the presentation of homes, ensuring they are presentable, and adhere to the cleaning schedule while following infection control. Additionally, promptly report any necessary repairs to management.

· Support young people with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices, enabling them to take control of their own lives, increasing independence.

· Ensure that the personal belongings of young people are treated with respect, and enable, as much as possible, young people to maintain contact with their family and friends as appropriate.

· Support the young people to take an active role in the community by accessing local facilities and wider community resources in the spirit of social inclusion.

· Support the development of person\-centred planning, ensuring everyone’s plan has meaningful and achievable goals.

· Support the young people to develop and expand social networks and friendships.

· Contribute to/attend reviews and multi\-disciplinary meetings.

· Work with the young people to promote healthy lifestyles, by consulting with local healthcare professionals.

· Work in partnership with care managers and other professionals to maximise quality of life for the young people.

· Develop positive relationships with the families of the young people.

· Work in line with the company’s safeguarding policy and whistle blowing policy to ensure that people are always kept safe.

· Ensure the security of all the buildings and the safety of the young people.

· At all times work within the company’s equal opportunities policy and procedure.

· Ensure risk assessments are actioned as necessary, in line with policies and procedures.

· Be always flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the service and the young people.

· Develop person\-centred working relationships with the young people, carrying out any key worker responsibilities in a professional manner.

The successful candidate will also need to be able to , develop child\-centred planning, and contribute to multi – disciplinary meetings with professionals and stakeholders from a wide range of external services including local authorities, virtual schools, Special Education Needs, CAMHS, Mental Health Services and various charitable organisations.

What we are ideally looking for:

· 1 years’ experience in either Residential Childrens home or supported accommodation / supported living/Youth Work

· NVQ Level 3 Health \& Social Care (or equivalent) children's residential pathway

. Experience of Recording and reporting using internal DataBase systems

.Experience of EBD; autism; self harm; gang crime; CCE; CSE

· Experience of working with sanctuary seeking / Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking / UASC Children

· Speak a different language for instance (but not limited to) Welsh, Pashto, Sorani, Farsi,Arabic
