We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Production Manager / Joiner to oversee the day\-to\-day operations of our manufacturing workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the production of IPS systems, toilet cubicles, laminated cabinets, and bespoke joinery products, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands\-on leadership role requiring strong joinery knowledge, workshop management experience, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications while leading a production team to achieve operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the production of:
- IPS (Integrated Plumbing System) units
- Toilet cubicle systems
- Laminated cabinetry
- Bespoke joinery products
- Manage daily workshop operations to ensure production schedules and delivery deadlines are achieved.
- Allocate labour and resources effectively to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor workflow and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
- Liaise with project managers, design teams, and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate workshop operatives and joiners.
- Organize daily workloads and provide clear instructions to team members.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs.
- Foster a positive, productive, and safety\-focused working environment.
- Carry out regular quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
- Ensure all products are manufactured in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and company standards.
- Identify and rectify quality issues before products leave the workshop.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship across all manufactured products.
- Oversee and enforce daily workshop health and safety compliance.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Ensure all workshop staff adhere to company health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Maintain records relating to inspections, incidents, and compliance requirements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety.
- Read and interpret technical plans, manufacturing drawings, and design specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and support to workshop personnel.
- Ensure accurate manufacturing and assembly in line with client requirements.
- Assist with problem\-solving and design adaptations where necessary.
Essential
- Previous experience managing a joinery or manufacturing workshop team.
- Strong background in joinery, cabinet making, or bespoke furniture manufacture.
- Experience producing IPS systems, toilet cubicles, laminated cabinets, or similar commercial joinery products.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of workshop production processes and quality control procedures.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and workshop compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Relevant Joinery, Carpentry, or Manufacturing qualification.
- Health \& Safety qualification (not essential )
- Experience with production planning and manufacturing software.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- Strong leadership and people\-management skills.
- Quality\-focused with excellent attention to detail.
