Workplace Adjustment Consultant

On behalf of Department for Business and Trade, we are looking for a Workplace Adjustment Consultant (Inside IR35\) for a 3 month contract based hybrid in either London, Manchester, Darlington, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Belfast or Cardiff. Office attendance is 2 days a week.

Role Profile:

To support the Department for Business and Trade in delivering effective workplace adjustment solutions for employees. The successful candidate will work closely with staff, line managers, Occupational Health providers, and other stakeholders to ensure reasonable adjustments are identified, implemented, and reviewed appropriately.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong stakeholder management skills, a practical understanding of workplace adjustments, and the ability to manage a varied caseload within a fast\-paced environment.

As a Workplace Adjustment Consultant, your main responsibilities will be to:

• Manage a caseload of approximately 25\-30 workplace adjustment cases.


• Provide guidance and support to employees and line managers regarding workplace adjustments and reasonable accommodations.


• Review workplace adjustment assessments and recommendations, ensuring appropriate actions are identified and implemented.


• Liaise with Occupational Health providers and other specialist services to support case outcomes.


• Assess workplace adjustment requirements, identify potential risks, and provide practical recommendations.


• Ensure workplace adjustment solutions are aligned with organisational policies and best practice.


• Build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across the organisation.


• Maintain accurate case records and provide updates on case progress as required.


• Support managers in understanding their responsibilities relating to workplace adjustments and employee wellbeing.


• Contribute to continuous improvement of workplace adjustment processes and guidance.

• Experience managing multiple cases simultaneously within a busy environment.


• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organisation.


• Experience working with Occupational Health providers and interpreting recommendations.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to different audiences.


• Strong empathy, judgement, and problem\-solving skills when dealing with sensitive and complex situations.

• Previous experience within the Public Sector or Civil Service environment.


• Proven experience supporting workplace adjustments, reasonable accommodations, employee wellbeing, or related HR casework.


• Experience working in an HR, Employee Relations, People Services, or Corporate Services function.


• Current knowledge of employment law, equality legislation, and HR best practice.


• HR qualification (CIPD or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.


• Understanding of disability inclusion, workplace accessibility, and reasonable adjustment frameworks.
