Cockliffe Country House is a busy wedding and events venue in Nottinghamshire, hosting weddings, celebrations and events throughout the year.

We are looking for an experienced, organised and people\-focused Food \& Beverage Supervisor to help lead our F\&B team and ensure our bars, dining areas and events run smoothly.

This is a hands\-on role. You will be working alongside the team during events, while also taking responsibility for stock, ordering, training, standards and the day\-to\-day management of the F\&B operation.

Our events are varied, fast\-paced and often busy, so we are looking for someone who can stay calm under pressure, lead by example and make sure our guests receive a warm, professional and memorable experience.

Your responsibilities

Events \& Service

  • Supervise the F\&B team during weddings and events.

  • Lead by example, getting stuck in and helping the team wherever needed.

  • Oversee bar and waiting service to ensure consistently high standards.

  • Make sure drinks and food are served efficiently and professionally.

  • Help coordinate the team before, during and after events.

  • Ensure the bar is correctly set up, stocked and ready for service.

  • Deal confidently and professionally with guest queries or issues.

  • Work closely with the Events and Management teams to ensure the smooth running of each event.

  • Complete end\-of\-event checks and ensure the venue is left clean, tidy and secure.

  • Ensure all company procedures relating to cash handling, stock control, licensing and responsible alcohol service are followed.
Stock \& Ordering

You will have an important role in keeping our F\&B operation properly stocked and organised.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Weekly stock ordering, ensuring sufficient food, drinks and consumables are available for upcoming events.

  • Weekly linen ordering, ensuring we have the correct quantities available for upcoming weddings and events.

  • Monitoring stock levels throughout the week and identifying any shortages or unusual usage.

  • Checking deliveries and ensuring stock is stored correctly.

  • Maintaining organised bar and stock areas.

  • Carrying out a monthly full stock take.

  • Identifying discrepancies and reporting any issues to management.

  • Helping to monitor wastage and keep stock costs under control.

  • Ensuring stock rotation and storage procedures are followed.
Bar Maintenance \& Standards
  • Arrange and complete beer line cleaning every two weeks, ensuring lines are maintained to the required standard.

  • Keep bars, fridges, glassware and storage areas clean and organised.

  • Ensure equipment is used correctly and any faults are reported promptly.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and hygiene across the F\&B operation.

  • Carry out regular checks of bar equipment and supplies
People Management \& Team Leadership

Our F\&B team includes people of different ages, backgrounds and levels of experience, from younger team members working alongside more experienced staff.

We are looking for someone who understands that good management isn't one\-size\-fits\-all.

You will be expected to:

  • Lead, support and motivate a diverse team.

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with staff of different ages and experience levels.

  • Adapt your management and communication style where appropriate.

  • Help new and less\-experienced team members develop their confidence and skills.

  • Recognise and make use of the experience and knowledge of more established team members.

  • Set clear expectations around standards, behaviour and responsibilities.

  • Give constructive feedback and address issues fairly and professionally.

  • Recognise good performance and encourage a positive team environment.

  • Help create a workplace that is safe, supportive, inclusive and kind.

  • Ensure team members feel able to ask questions and raise concerns.

  • Deal with day\-to\-day staff issues calmly and appropriately, escalating more serious matters to management when necessary.

  • Help build a team where people support one another rather than simply working alongside each other.
Training \& Development

A key part of the role will be helping our team become confident and capable in their roles.

You will:

  • Assist with team training and ongoing development.

  • Help train new starters in bar, waiting and event procedures.

  • Ensure team members understand our standards and expectations.

  • Provide practical training on drinks service, customer service, cash handling and event procedures.

  • Monitor staff performance and identify areas where additional training may be beneficial.

  • Lead by example and provide support and coaching during events.

  • Help ensure mandatory and venue\-specific training is kept up to date.
What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in hospitality, events, bars or a similar environment.

  • Comfortable supervising and leading a team.

  • Confident managing people of different ages and experience levels.

  • Organised and able to take responsibility for multiple tasks.

  • Reliable and able to work independently when required.

  • Friendly, approachable and professional.

  • Comfortable dealing with guests and handling difficult situations calmly.

  • Confident working in a busy, fast\-paced environment.

  • Able to prioritise and stay calm when things don't go exactly to plan.

  • Detail\-focused, particularly when it comes to stock and standards.

  • A good communicator who isn't afraid to have conversations when something needs addressing.

  • Someone who genuinely enjoys working as part of a team.
Previous experience in a supervisory or senior hospitality role would be an advantage.

A personal licence would be beneficial but is not essential.

The practical stuff

This is a hands\-on hospitality role, so you will need to be comfortable being on your feet for long periods and getting involved in all aspects of event service.

Our busiest days are generally Fridays and Saturdays, with weddings and events taking place throughout the year. Weekend and evening availability is therefore essential.

This is not a seasonal position – we host events throughout the year.

Why Cockliffe?

We believe hospitality should be about more than simply getting the job done.

We want our team to feel supported, respected and valued, while also understanding the standards we need to deliver for our couples and guests.

You'll be joining a team where everyone has a part to play – from the newest member of staff to the most experienced team member – and where we believe we can learn from one another.

If you're someone who enjoys hospitality, likes working with people and wants to take genuine responsibility for helping a team succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

You will need your own transport as there is no bus route.
