Warehouse Supervisor \& Counterbalance Forklift Driver
Location: Shipley Transport Services
Job Type: Full\-Time (Permanent)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 1300hrs – 2200hrs (or until finish)
Saturday Working: Required on a rota basis as business needs dictate.
Pay: £13\.50 – £15\.00 per hour (depending on experience)
About the Role
Shipley Transport Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Warehouse Supervisor \& Counterbalance Forklift Driver to join our professional and growing warehouse team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with experience within the general haulage and logistics industry. The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent organisational skills and the ability to lead by example, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our afternoon warehouse shift.
The position is offered on a temporary to permanent basis, subject to the successful completion of a three\-month probationary period.
Key Responsibilities
As Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the afternoon warehouse operation while actively working alongside the team to ensure all daily activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Your duties will include:
- Supervising and supporting warehouse staff during the PM shift.
- Ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of LGV trailers using Counterbalance Forklift Trucks.
- Loading containers with palletised freight as required.
- Picking, packing and preparing customer orders accurately.
- Managing freight movements within the warehouse.
- Ensuring all stock is correctly located, labelled and stored.
- Maintaining accurate stock control and inventory records.
- Completing all company and customer paperwork accurately.
- Loading vehicles in accordance with loading plans and customer requirements.
- Reporting any damaged stock, equipment or warehouse racking immediately.
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and promoting a clean, safe working environment.
- Ensuring compliance with all Health \& Safety policies and warehouse procedures.
- Assisting with general warehouse duties as required.
Applicants must have:
- A valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence (RTITB, ITSSAR or BRITOP accredited).
- Previous experience within a warehouse environment.
- Experience working within the general haulage or logistics industry.
- Experience loading and unloading trailers safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of freight management and stock control.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand English.
- The ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards.
- A positive attitude with excellent reliability and punctuality.
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Valid Pivot Steer (Bendi) Forklift licence.
- Experience shunting LGVs and trailers.
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead by example and motivate the warehouse team.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Have a proactive, "can\-do" attitude.
- Be flexible to cover holidays and sickness when required.
- Take pride in maintaining high standards of customer service and warehouse operations.
