Location: Simon Charles Warehouse, Stanley Court, Stanley Green, Handforth, Cheshire, Wilmslow SK9 3RW

Pay: £12\.71 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week, shift patterns will be agreed with you at interview. Shifts start at 07\.30 and finish at 16\.00 hrs

Job Type: Full\-time, Permanent – weekend availability sometimes required.

Simon Charles Auctioneers has been trading for over 70 years and is now one of Europe's largest online auction houses. We run 20\+ live auctions and sell around 10,000 lots a week – everything from furniture and electronics to clothing and appliances – from our four auction centres in Stockport, just outside Manchester. We work with major UK and European retailers, giving returned, surplus and overstock stock a second life, and no two lots (or days) are ever quite the same.

Your Role

This role blends hands\-on warehouse work with online cataloguing – ideal if you like variety and are just as comfortable on your feet as you are at a screen. Your time will typically be split between physically handling stock and accurately listing it for auction, with the balance varying according to business needs.

What You'll Do – Warehouse

• Receive, unload, store and organise incoming stock, and prepare lots for sale, collection or dispatch


• Scan, label and record stock accurately using our warehouse systems


• Serve customers politely at collection, following our booking system and manual handling procedures (lifting up to 23kg regularly)

• Identify, describe and catalogue goods accurately, including vendor and condition details


• Write clear, accurate product descriptions and upload listings and photographs to our online auction platform. AI is used to generate product descriptions, so you will often be checking what the AI has written rather than writing a description yourself.


• Work to agreed productivity and quality targets and auction deadlines

• A mix of both skill sets: physically fit and comfortable with regular lifting, plus excellent attention to detail and confidence with computer/data entry


• Flexible and adaptable – happy to switch between physical and desk\-based tasks as the day requires


• Good communication skills, both with customers and the wider team


• Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, retail, e\-commerce or cataloguing work is an advantage
