Warehouse & Logistics Supervisor (Ripening Rooms)

Job Summary

This role is primarily focused on ripening room operations, with warehouse support provided when required. It is responsible for organising the safe and efficient movement and storage of products into and out of the ripening rooms. This role must collaborate closely with the Quality and Ripening teams to deliver aligned outcomes, ensuring efficient operations across product movement, ripening processes, and product availability. Lead, motivate, and develop a multifunctional team, resolving issues and serving as a link between operatives and management to help deliver operational KPI’s.

Essential Duties \& Responsibilities

• Ensuring that for their area, risk assessments, regular inspections and audits are carried out.


• Ensuring that the operations under their control are, as far as is reasonably practicable, conducted without detriment to the health and safety of employees or others who may be affected by their activities.


• Ensuring that the Safety Management System is effectively implemented within their areas of responsibility.


• Implement and maintain workplace precautions suitable to the working environment and as identified in risk assessments.


• Ensuring that all accidents, incidents and near misses reported to them are documented and investigated correctly.


• Provide suitable levels of information, instruction, training, and supervision to employees in their area, ensuring that it is comprehensible and understood by the person to whom it is addressed.


• Ensure effective communication through their departments of Health \& Safety activities.


• Maintain safety discipline within their area of responsibility.


• Ensuring that any remedial actions that are beyond their scope of authorisation are brought to the attention of their immediate superior.


• Accountable for ensuring all ripening room movements are completed, recorded, and communicated daily.


• Work closely with the QRC Ripening Team to achieve their goals


• React to Safety issues such as Leaning pallets in a timely manner and escalate where needed.


• Carry out daily inspections of ripening rooms and associated operational areas.


• Lead, develop and coach Warehouse staff under your supervision.


• Plan workload, allocate tasks and monitor progress against targets.


• Ensure effective cross training amongst all staff across ripening and warehouse functions.


• Ensure collaboration and effective communication within the quality and ripening teams.


• Carry out and attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.


• Serve as warehouse and logistics support when required, incl. coordinating drivers, vehicles and loads, ensuring documentation is completed as defined by SOPs, monitoring stock levels and reporting issues, support warehousing operations to ensure seamless coordinator between ripening, warehouse and production teams.


• Carry out WPIs to ensure the site is kept safe and procedures are being followed.


• Support and deputize for the Warehouse and Logistics Manager when necessary.


• Carry out reasonable additional tasks as requested.
