Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to join our children’s residential home. The successful candidate will provide overnight care and support to children, ensuring their safety, well\-being, and development throughout the night. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive difference in young lives by offering stability, reassurance, and tailored support during the night hours. The position requires a caring attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to care plans and organisational policies.

Duties

  • Monitor and supervise children during the night to ensure their safety and comfort.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to any behavioural or medical needs that arise overnight.

  • Follow individualised care plans to meet each child's specific needs and routines.

  • Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting or changing if required.

  • Maintain accurate records of overnight activities, incidents, and any concerns in line with organisational procedures.

  • Support children with emotional reassurance and stability during the night hours.

  • Liaise effectively with colleagues and emergency services if necessary.

  • Ensure the environment remains safe, clean, and conducive to restful sleep for all children.

  • Uphold safeguarding policies at all times, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Experience
  • Experience working with children in a childcare or support setting is highly desirable.

  • Previous experience in a residential or care environment will be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of child development and behaviour management techniques.

  • Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining vigilance.

  • Driving experience is preferred but not essential; however, a valid driving licence may be beneficial for organisational duties.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively document incidents and liaise with team members.

  • Familiarity with IT systems used for record keeping and reporting purposes is desirable but not mandatory.
