Vehicle Mechanic – Engine Removal, Replacement \& Reconditioning

About the Job

Engine Hub is looking for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to join our specialist engine team in Kings Langley.

We specialise in engine removal, replacement, repair and reconditioning for a wide range of cars and commercial vans.

This is a hands\-on workshop role and would suit a capable mechanic who is confident carrying out mechanical repairs and wants to develop further within the specialist engine\-reconditioning industry.

You do not need a university degree. For us, practical ability, mechanical knowledge, reliability and quality of workmanship are what matter.

Your Role

Your work will include:

• Removing and replacing engines in cars and commercial vans


• Diagnosing engine and mechanical faults


• Stripping vehicles and preparing them for engine removal

• Replacing cambelts, timing chains and associated components


• Replacing clutches, flywheels, gaskets and seals where required


• Carrying out oil, filter and fluid changes


• Routine servicing and mechanical repairs


• Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults


• Carrying out final checks and road tests following repairs


• Working alongside our engine\-reconditioning team


• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship throughout every job

Engine Reconditioning

For mechanics interested in developing their skills further, we can provide hands\-on training in engine rebuilding and reconditioning.

This can include:

• Engine stripping and inspection


• Cylinder head preparation


• Piston and piston\-ring installation


• Main and big\-end bearing replacement


• Engine measurement and inspection


• Bottom\-end assembly


• Cylinder head installation


• Timing systems


• Complete engine assembly


• Previous engine\-building experience is an advantage, but not essential for the right mechanic.

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience working as a Vehicle Mechanic or Technician


• Good experience with engine removal and replacement


• Strong knowledge of petrol and diesel engines


• Experience with cambelts and timing chains


• Good mechanical fault\-finding ability


• Confidence using diagnostic equipment


• Good attention to detail


• The ability to work independently


• A reliable and professional attitude


• Pride in producing good\-quality work


• Full UK driving licence preferred

£600–£900 per week depending on experience, skills and ability.
