The Role
We are looking for a motivated and organised Assistant Buyer to join our commercial and procurement team. Working closely with our Procurement Manager, you will play a central role in keeping our projects moving — sourcing and managing materials, plant, hire, and logistics across our active project portfolio.
You will also support the commercial team on the procurement of high\-value and specialist items, where accuracy, supplier relationships, and commercial awareness really matter.

What You Will Be Doing
- Supporting the Procurement Manager across a portfolio of 8–10 concurrent construction projects
- Raising and managing purchase orders for materials, plant, hire, and logistics
- Obtaining competitive quotations and negotiating with suppliers and hire companies
- Tracking deliveries and managing supply chain issues proactively
- Assisting the commercial team with procurement of high\-value and specialist subcontract packages
- Maintaining accurate procurement records, delivery schedules, and order logs
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with our supply chain
- Supporting the wider office with procurement\-related administration
- Previous experience in a buying, procurement, or construction admin role (construction sector preferred)
- A good understanding of building materials, plant, and hire — or a genuine eagerness to learn
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities across different projects
- Confident communicator — comfortable on the phone chasing suppliers as well as working with internal teams
- Commercially minded with an eye for detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with procurement or project management software is a bonus
- A team player who takes ownership and follows things through
