Van Driver (Delivery and Collection)
Hours: 20 hours (Flexible start and finish time to suit business needs)
Location: Glasgow
Pay: £12\.71 per hour
Job Purpose
The Van Driver will facilitate and ensure that all inbound and outbound shipment is safely and accurately picked up and loaded from clients’ houses/businesses, unloaded, received, checked, wrapped and put\-away and execute all other tasks relating to warehouse operation in accordance with operational and health and safety procedures.
Must be able to follow standard operating procedures and work in a methodical and tidy manner.
Purpose of the role
The Van driver will join our dynamic team and will report to the Head of Operations and will have overall responsibility daily in the warehousing operations which includes, cargo pick\-ups, delivery, packing, wrapping, stacking, labelling, sorting, loading and unloading. The role involves operating manual handling equipment as required and minimizing any losses and damages during these processes.
The ideal candidate will complete all tasks with a high degree of accuracy to ensure and maintain organisation standards. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, health and environment procedures. Maintain a safe working environment within the warehouse and reporting any incidents or accidents immediately to the relevant manager.
This role involves traveling throughout Scotland and occasional to England.
Responsibilities
- Cargo pick\-ups from customers at different locations and making deliveries
- Handle goods to ensure they are in good condition.
- Ensure the quality of housekeeping is maintained at all times, operating in a tidy as you go manner.
- Loading and unloading cargos manually and using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, ensuring safety standards are adhered to at all times.
- Receive cargos and ensure accurate labelling, re\-packing, wrapping and sorting.
- Ensure quality and accuracy whilst performing any operation.
- Perform quality, audit and other checks on cargos and/or goods as required.
- Maintain cargo integrity by ensuring correct stock and system moves.
- Perform all other duties as reasonably required that are consistent with both training and experience.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements including warehouse procedures, PPE and housekeeping.
- Complete the pre and post use inspections on the workplace transport and report any malfunction or damage to ensure that the workplace transfer is in good working order at all times
- Full, clean UK driving license is essential (preferably, manual driving license)
- Previous Warehouse experience is preferrable but not essential as training will be provided for specific equipment use
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during shifts
- Ability to use own initiative
- Relevant transport qualifications (Forklift Licence), desirable
- Understanding of basic health and safety principles
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Understanding of good customer service
- Ability to plan and manage own time well
- Flexible approach
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
