Urgent Treatment Centre Wayfinder
We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as an Urgent Treatment Centre Wayfinder. The role is key to supporting safe and efficient patient flow between A\&E and the Urgent Treatment Centre.
You will provide a visible, patient‑facing wayfinding and escort service, guiding patients through the hospital, including restricted clinical areas, and ensuring they reach the correct service safely and without delay.
Working closely with clinical teams, you will help reduce overcrowding, improve patient experience, and support timely access to care. This role requires excellent communication skills, a professional and compassionate approach, and the ability to work in a busy, fast‑paced environment.
Main Duties of the Job
Provide a visible wayfinding and escort service for patients between A\&E and the Urgent Treatment Centre
Support safe and timely patient flow across departments, particularly during busy periods
Assist patients, including those with mobility needs, ensuring they reach the correct service without delay
Work closely with clinical teams to improve patient experience and reduce overcrowding
Maintain a professional, compassionate approach when interacting with patients, relatives and visitors

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Escort patients (including wheelchair use where required) between A\&E, UTC and hospital exits
Ensure patients are supervised at all times when moving through restricted and clinical areas
Liaise with nursing and streaming staff to support effective patient movement and pathway compliance
Assess patients’ ability to mobilise safely and provide assistance where needed
Provide clear directions and information about hospital services and facilities
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding, infection prevention, and health \& safety policies
Report incidents, concerns or risks promptly in line with Trust procedures
Participate in training, team briefings, and support induction of new staff or volunteers
Remain calm and professional in a fast\-paced, sometimes challenging environment
