Cargo Express is an established haulage, logistics, warehousing and customs business based in Birmingham. We employ over 100 people. We move non standard freight, run European forwarding and deliver domestic distribution across the United Kingdom. Our customers rely on us to get it right. That starts in the transport office.
The Role
We are looking for a Transport Shift Supervisor to run the transport operation on shift. You will keep drivers moving, deliveries on time and the operation compliant. You will be the first point of contact for drivers and customers during your shift.
Shift Pattern
You will work Monday to Friday. Each shift is 9 hours including break. Shift patterns will vary to meet the needs of the operation. Any change will be given with notice.
What You Will Do
- Plan and allocate daily work to drivers and vehicles.
- Monitor vehicle tracking and delivery progress throughout the shift.
- Manage delays, breakdowns and incidents. Keep customers updated.
- Monitor drivers' hours and working time. Follow up tachograph infringements.
- Brief drivers and resolve issues as they arise.
- Work closely with the warehouse and planning teams.
- Complete accurate shift handovers.
- Experience in a transport office, planning or driver supervision role.
- Confidence managing drivers and holding people to standards.
- Clear communication with drivers, customers and colleagues.
- Calm and decisive under pressure.
- Good computer skills.
- Salary of £30,000 to £33,000 depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday.
