Transport Planner

We’re looking for an organised and proactive Transport Planner to join our busy logistics team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning efficient daily routes, allocating drivers and vehicles, and ensuring deliveries run smoothly and on time.

Shift Pattern and Hours of Work:

• 12 hour day shift


• 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accurate route planning to maximise efficiency


• Effectively communicate with customers to maintain relationships


• Achieve KPI’s ensuring the continuous improvement of service offered to the customer


• Assist Transport with tasks such as driver debriefing, tacho download and driver investigations


• Escalating challenges and potential solutions through the correct channels


• Ensure legal compliance with EU Legislation and WTD


• Adhere to and enforce all Company policy and processes


• Assist the Senior Planner to resource the plan and work with Shift Managers to effectively manage rota, absence, holidays, communicate with drivers


• Working with customers to ensure forward planning on peak occasions


• Resourcing routes daily ensuring the correct management of driver’s hours regulations


• Liaising with Senior Planners \& Management to ensure the effective use of sub\-contractors


• Vary start times to ensure all routes meet booking times


• Assist the Senior Planner in identifying the business requirement for change resulting in recruitment; ability to produce business case/costings.


• Protecting and enhancing the Buffaload brand


• Continuous Improvement


• Evaluate routes to ensure that all routes are profitable


• Manage and maintain Company standards


• To promote a positive health and safety culture through your individual actions.

Essential Skills

• Excellent communication and customer service skills; towards colleagues and customers


• Prioritisation and organisation skills


• Must be fluent in English due to the nature of the role; being in constant communication with Planning teams, Operations teams and customers both in person and on the phone.


• Attention to detail and problem solving


• Excellent Excel skills


• Ability to use multiple IT systems


• Excellent attention to detail specifically with numbers

Qualifications:

• National CPC Holder (desirable)

Experience:

• Experience in a distribution/manufacturing environment


• Experience working within an administration role


• Previous experience working within a similar role, business and/ or industry

Other Criteria:
