Due to continued growth, we are now looking for a confident and organised Transport Operator to join our Transport team in Foston.
This is a key role at the heart of our operation. You will help plan, coordinate, and monitor daily articulated truck movements, making sure deliveries run safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations. From allocating drivers, vehicles, and trailers to responding quickly to live operational changes, you will play an important part in keeping our transport network moving.

The Role
As Transport Operator, you will support the effective planning and day\-to\-day coordination of our transport operation. You will work closely with drivers, controllers, the Operations Manager, customers, and third\-party providers to ensure transport activity is planned properly, communicated clearly, and delivered to a high standard.
No two days will look exactly the same. You will be managing live movements, solving problems, keeping stakeholders updated, and making sure the right resources are in the right place at the right time.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and coordinating daily transport activity
Scheduling articulated truck movements to meet customer and operational requirements
Allocating drivers, vehicles, and trailers efficiently to maximise fleet utilisation
Monitoring vehicle movements and responding quickly to delays, route changes, and operational issues
Liaising with drivers, customers, internal teams, and third\-party providers to support smooth transport operations
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with company procedures
Supporting safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of transport services
Using transport technology, including GPS systems, telematics, and route optimisation tools
Identifying opportunities to improve planning efficiency, service levels, and operational performance
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who understands the pace and pressure of transport operations. You will be proactive, organised, and able to make good decisions quickly while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, communication, and customer service.
You will bring:
Previous experience in transport planning, transport operations, or logistics coordination
Good understanding of articulated truck operations
Knowledge of UK transport legislation
Understanding of drivers’ hours regulations, Working Time Directive, and tachograph requirements
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
A practical, solutions\-focused approach to problem\-solving
Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure
Confidence using transport systems, GPS, telematics, or route planning software
A proactive mindset and the ability to prioritise in a fast\-moving environment
